Cardiac Cath. Lab I love that this area of nursing as it provides the opportunity for one to one care for angiogram/angioplasty patients. Anyone who chooses to work in this type of interventional & intensive care setting is also is challenged by a sudden life threatening situation. It does feel wonderful when everyone suddenly segways into a smoothly functioning unit that works so well as a emergency team. It's difficult to describe the feeling of satisfaction that results from contributing to life saving treatment of a patient. Then again, in a what some may call a "routine case" there is a certain sense of pride when you are able to anticipate the procedural needs of the MD, assist your medical co-workers and provide excellent patient care. This combination of care make this area of medicine a very satisfying place to work. It is the small touches as decreasing the discomfort of a patient's chronic back pain by placing a pillow under their knees, giving ice chips to ease the dry mouth post-Atropine or placing a warmed blanket to ease a chill ... the look on the face of those patient's is what makes me totally love being an
